We welcome students from our partner universities every semester. Nominations and applications for a semester abroad at our department are handled centrally by the LMU International Office, while we coordinate all questions regarding the content of the stay (such as course selection) directly.
Here you will find important dates and deadlines for your exchange programme at LMU.
Students who wish to study at our department under a partnership agreement (Erasmus+, UK, SEMP or LMUexchange) must be officially nominated by the department coordinators or the International Office at their home university.
After nomination, incoming students must officially apply and enrol at LMU. Here you will find everything you need to know about the application process, language requirements and your learning agreement.
Further information on applying for incoming students and LMU

We appreciate your interest in a partnership within the framework of Erasmus+, UK, SEMP, or LMUexchange. Als Gastwissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftler und Gastdozenten und -dozentinnen schicken unsere Partneruniversitäten regelmäßig Mitarbeitende für einen Aufenthalt zu uns – likewise we are happy to send our colleguages to you. Just get in touch with us to discuss the possibilities.
We maintain numerous international research partnerships. These usually arise from contacts made through collaboration, exchanges, or conferences and congresses. However, a good scientific idea can also form the basis of a partnership. Please feel free to contact us.
If you are interested, please contact the chairs directly and/or come and meet us at conferences and congresses.
IfKW employees have the opportunity to gain international experience, establish contacts, maintain existing collaborations, or initiate new ones as part of international staff mobility. The International Office coordinates a number of programs and funding opportunities for this purpose.
Support is provided for both guest lectureships with a teaching component and individual continuing education and training trips.
You can find an overview of all LMU programs here on the LMU International Network page. The three main routes are as follows:
Teaching activities:
The Erasmus+ programme supports visiting lectureships by LMU lecturers at European partner universities with which an Erasmus agreement exists.
Here you can find more information about our partner universities.
Further education and training: As part of the Erasmus+ program, stays by LMU university staff at European partner institutions are funded with the aim of supporting internationalisation, strengthening the international and professional skills of employees and opening up new perspectives.
International staff mobility outside Europe
To promote internationalization, LMU supports its employees' stays at partner universities worldwide.
Partner universities:
We maintain excellent international academic contacts with over 30 partnerships with institutes in Europe, North America, Australia, Latin America, and Asia. Staff mobility is possible within the framework of these partnerships. Here you can find an overview of our partner universities.
General information on staff mobility is available from the LMU International Office. Here you can contact the International Office team.
The IfKW's international relations officer is available to answer questions about the individual partner universities. You can find your contact person here.
One request: The IfKW link leads to the contact details of the international affairs officer. Please send emails regarding international affairs exclusively to the functional address international@ifkw.lmu.de, not directly to Jessica Kühn.
