The “Association for the Promotion of Research and Teaching at the Institute for Communication Studies and Media Research” (VFKW e.V.) was founded in early 1999 to promote communication studies in Munich and to support subject-related research at the institute.
The association's goals include promoting practical training for students during their studies and helping communication science graduates enter the workforce. The association supports contact between graduates, students, and teachers at the institute. The exchange between science and practice should be promoted.
The knowledge and personal experience of alumni are also helpful in achieving the association's goals. We would be delighted to welcome you as a new member of VFKW e.V.

Welcome Message from the Chairman
You never really leave—and that also applies to the IfKW. Many graduates want to stay connected to the institute even after completing their studies. Membership in the VFKW, the institute's alumni association, is the easiest way to stay in touch.
The association serves as a bridge between graduates, faculty, and students of the IfKW. Over the years, the VFKW has not only promoted research and teaching at the institute in a variety of ways, but has also become a high-caliber network that brings together science and industry. As a graduate and former employee of the institute, it is a particular pleasure for me to continue this tradition of the VFKW.
Activities
Promotion of research and teaching
The projects supported by VFKW e.V. include
- the institute's journal Communichator,
- research projects at IfKW,
- conference participation by students and staff,
- the internship and job exchange for students and graduates of the IfKW,
- scientific conferences at the IfKW,
- the Best Thesis Awards for outstanding theses,
- support for the student council in organizing events on communication science topics,
- ... and much more.
Networking
The IfKW and its support association VFKW e.V. have set themselves the goal of better connecting the institute's alumni and current students with each other.
To this end, we maintain a presence on the social network LinkedIn.

Become a member
As a member, you can actively participate in the association's work, promote research and teaching at the institute, and establish and maintain contacts within the association's network. Simply fill out the attached application form and send it to us by mail or fax it to 089 2180-9429.
Membership in the association is subject to a fee, and association members are entitled to vote at the general meeting. Regular membership in the association is also open to students.
The annual membership fee is €30. This makes you a member of the association (VFKW e.v.). A supporting membership is available for a minimum fee of 500€.
Donations
Donations to VFKW e.V. are used to promote practical training for our students, intensify contacts with the media industry, and implement projects in research and teaching. Donations are tax deductible. Please enter “Donation” and your address in the transfer details so that we can send you a donation receipt.
