Prof. Dr. Ruth Wendt (née Festl)

Since October 2022, Ruth Wendt is a Professor for Communication Science (W2) with a focus on “Digital Literacy in Algorithmic Spaces” at the Department of Media and Communication (IfKW) at LMU Munich.
Previously, she worked as senior researcher at the German Youth Institute (2021-2022) and as a postdoc at the Knowledge Media Research Center in Tübingen (2018-2021) and also held an interim professorship for Communication Science at IfKW in the summer term 2021. From 2015 to 2017, she worked as a senior researcher for children, adolescsents and media at the German Youth Institute. Prior to this, she worked as a PhD student at the Universities of Hohenheim and Münster (2010-2015).
She studied education science, psychology and communication science at the LMU Munich. In November 2014, she completed her PhD in communication science (thesis: Perpetrators on the internet. An analysis of individual and structural explanatory factors of cyberbullying in the school context) at the University of Münster.
