Dr. Jana Rick completed her PhD at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) at the Chair of Journalism Research on the topic of journalists leaving the profession. After studying communication science in Italy and Austria, she worked from 2019 to 2024 as a research assistant in a DFG project on precarization in journalism under Prof. Dr. Thomas Hanitzsch. In 2023, her dissertation was awarded the Herbert von Halem Promotions-Förderpreis des Mittelbaus der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Publizistik- und Kommunikationswissenschaft and the Herbert von Halem-Verlag. Since 2025 she works as a lecturer and academic coordinator at the Department. Her research interests include the working conditions of journalists and journalistic work in general.
